As we continue to grow and innovate, I want to express my gratitude to each of you. Your creativity, feedback, and support have been invaluable in shaping Thunkable into what it is today. Together, we’ve built a vibrant community of Creators, and I couldn’t be more proud.
I’m excited to announce a new pricing and packaging model designed to support your app development needs and enhance your experience with Thunkable. These changes are based on your feedback and product usage. We want to provide more flexibility and value so everyone can continue creating amazing apps with as few barriers as possible.
Starting today we will offer two plans: Builder and Advanced. We are also updating our Free plan entitlements. Below you’ll see the features of our new paid plans compared to our previous Pro and Business offerings.
The biggest things I want to call out about these new changes are:
Better plans at the same (or better) annual price as the previous plans. The annual Builder plan is the same price as our annual Pro plan, and unlike Pro, it includes custom splash screens, full branding capabilities for published apps, and access to all in-app features. Our Advanced plan allows for unlimited projects, unlimited published apps, and all in-app features for 40% less than our annual Business plan.
Custom Splash Screen for all published apps. We have heard from you, your Creators, that custom branding is vital to you. We have made custom splash screens available for all published apps on all new plans.
If you’re on a current paid plan – you will be unaffected. That’s right. You can keep your current plan and your current price point for as long as you keep your plan active. If you want to keep your Starter, Pro, or Business plan – you can have it for as long as you want!
Here is a breakdown of the differences between our Pro and Business plans and the new Builder and Advanced plans.
As we move to the new system, I want to explain what this means for all of our existing Thunkers.
For current paid subscribers:
You can maintain your existing plan at the same rate as long as your subscription remains active.
If you cancel your current plan, you’ll lose access to the Starter, Pro, or Business plans and can only purchase the new Builder or Advanced plans. To switch, you must meet the requirements for the Builder plan.
If you switch from any paid plan to the Free plan, your private projects will go into “read-only” mode, and you won’t be able to edit or create new projects until you meet the Free plan requirements.
For current Free subscribers:
You can maintain 10 projects with unlimited screens until December 31st, 2024. After that date, you will be transitioned to our new Free plan entitlements. Our new Free plan includes three public projects, each capped at five screens and limited to two expiring downloads per month. The new Free plan structure is below.
Users who create a free account today and move forward will be granted three projects with a maximum of five screens per project.
On December 31st, if you’d like to preserve all of your projects on your Free plan you will need to upgrade your account to a paid plan.
As we move forward with these changes, we’re committed to providing a smooth transition for all our users. Please check our FAQs and our Pricing Page for more details. More details will be available on our website, and we encourage your feedback as we roll this out.
Stay tuned for more updates, and happy app building!
We’d been using Thunkable as a tool for coding classes, because of how good the drag&drop is, but the new limits render it useless.
The 3 app limit we might have been able to do with, but the 5 screens limit is just too small.
That’s disappointing, we’ll be looking for an alternative
Hi @marine.bocquetpncnj We have offerings specific to education and teachers. I would be more than happy to talk to you about this and see what we can do to help. I’ll send you a DM to get your contact info so we can set up a time to talk.
I am writing to urgently request assistance with my Thunkable Business account, which was unexpectedly downgraded without any prior notice. This downgrade has broken the links to my published apps, causing significant disruptions. Unfortunately, this issue also led to a missed opportunity today when I was unable to demonstrate our application to a potential investor.
I have taken several steps to try and resolve this situation, including:
Contacting my account representative, but he is no longer with Thunkable, and I haven’t been introduced to a new representative, leaving me without support.
Emailing Billing, but I have not received any response.
Sent an email to Victor Wong, CFO (victor@thunkable.com) requesting assistance with billing, but I have not received any response.
Attempting to reach out via phone, but two of the three numbers I have are for former employees, and I was unable to connect with Victor when I tried to only working number for Thunkable that I know of.
As per your policy, I should be able to maintain my existing plan at the same rate as long as my subscription remains active. However, due to this unanticipated downgrade, I am now unable to restore my previous Business plan, and have no support.
The lack of communication during this process has been very disappointing. I kindly request that my Business account be restored immediately to avoid any further disruptions.
Your prompt assistance with this matter would be greatly appreciated.
hello
Maybe you should have thought about making a plan for amateurs who just want to make only one application and be able to upload it to the Play Store.
I have a “starter plan” and now I am forced to buy a much more expensive plan to upload my app to the play store and I will lose the option to downgrade to the “starter plan”.
Hi @robonautas.spiv2kr8, I appreciate this feedback. Our Starter plan never allowed for publishing to the App or Play stores, you would have had to upgrade anyway.
Our Builder plan is set up for users exactly you are describing and only want to send one app to publishing.
Our aim was to simplify pricing and packaging while providing the best app development platform. We heard feedback regarding plan entitlements, delivered even more features (including a custom splash screen) at the same annual price point as our current plans.
Yes, I know that I had to upgrade to the “PRO plan” to be able to upload my app to the play store, but after doing that upgrade and putting my app in the play store I suppose I could have gone back to the cheaper “starter plan”.
Now I will only be able to upgrade to a business plan and the only downgrade option I have is to a free plan. I’m not sure if by doing this I will lose features of my app.
Just a quick jump here - unfortunatly any app uploaded in the stores requires a constant maintenance: bug fixing, updating component, privacy, Android targeting, ecc…
I thought it would have been easy - once uploaded the game was done - but it’s not as easy as it seems.
Just to let you know as i thought the same and, look at me now, 10+ apps published and still going
Yes, if you downgrade from our Builder plan to Free, your end users will lose access to your published app. For your projects if you downgrade to Free, you will have 3 public projects and 5 screens max for each project.
It is clear that both the current FREE PLAN and the BUILDER PLAN have more limitations than the previous paid plans (FREE and PRO), and the features they add are not essential or necessary in the case of developers who are really going to use this type of platform, which are beginner or novice developers; if professional developers used it, they would not be here. And in that sense, surely the people who use it do not have the financial resources to pay an annual plan, which is the main argument when saying that “it has the same price as the PRO PLAN”, because most likely the app development is done as a secondary activity to their main job, from which they will generate very little or practically no income.
Now with this new update, I cannot even update my app, so that once I have the money, I can pay the monthly plan to be able to publish the app.
I hope that the platform can be as affordable for everyone as before, for the benefit of Thunkable and all users.
@juanbarrios809095h I totally agree with your comment.
I’m sure that many of us on this platform are beginners who don’t want to get into programming with code.
I understand that an expert programmer will use tools where he can have absolute control.
In my case I just want to develop a single simple app and be able to upload it to the play store to share it with my clients.
If I have to be obliged to maintain a plan all year round, it is better for me to hire a developer to make the app for me. I’m sure it will be cheaper over time.
