Template or project which uses list to display contents of local DB?

Hi, I’m trying to figure out how to display contents of a local DB based on logic (if column A shows a value of X, show the values in columns Y, Z) and how to update the local DB. Can you please point me to a template or project which I can look at to see how to set that up?
