When renaming a variable (I added “ƒ” in front of the name) created within a function block, the variable should be renamed in all blocks within the function definition and the Variables drawer. Currently, the renamed variable becomes a new variable instead.

I can replicate this only when it is a variable block (with the old name) connected to my blocks when I change the name.
If you don’t want a variable you can delete it:
