How do you save data in the date component

I am trying to get data to save on a specific date the user chooses but I do not know the best way to do that.

For example my idea is that if on May 5, 2020 the user writes in a text box and the text saves but on May 6 they write on the same text box with the text from the fifth being cleared but when they go back to May 5 what they wrote is still there. I want to be able to do that to any date.
