I’m not sure off hand. It really depends on what you are trying to accomplish.

I would like that the users could connect each other to play online. Like a friend list where you add a friend by his “username” mail, or something like that

Hi Jared,

I was trying to open the above link but I think it is deleted as this was from a while ago, but I am currently trying to do the same thing and have a username so so that when people use the app they can have a unique username for leaderboards etc. Could you help me with this?
