Download iOS App For Personal Testing

Hello,

I am trying to download my iOS app to my mac to be able to test it in my iphone. This app uses bluetooth that will connect to an arduino, so using the live test does not work for real life testing.

Apple lets developers upload their apps to their devices and sign the app for 7 days before it has to be built and uploaded to the device again. This is free and done using Xcode.

But Thunkable does not give the option to download the app without Apple’s Account Certificate that can only be generated by paying their $99 yearly subscription.

Is there a way I can download the Thunkable app so I can test it in my devices with Xcode for free as Apple already gives the option?

I won’t be publishing this project to the app store, it’s just a university project to simulate the electronic movement of the side mirrors on a car. Nothing worth publishing.

Im not familiar with Xcode, but maybe Test Flight app can help you with that?

Try having a look of what it does, hope it can help

Hello Maurizio,

Thanks for your reply. I was researching this Test Flight App, and it seems that it is bound to another service called App Store Connect, that seems that it can only be used if I pay the $99.

I just want to download the app and use Xcode to upload it to my iPhone without publishing to the App Story, Apple lets people do that, I don’t understand why Thunkable wouldn’t let me download the app to do it.

Based on your use-case, I would suggest publishing your app as a web app and trying that.

The short answer to why we can’t offer the same thing on Xcode is because we can’t do it very easily right now. Xcode is developed by Apple so they have access to many internal tools that we do not. We are only allowed what Apple provides externally. The infrastructure between Thunkable and Xcode is also very different as well.

Hello Brian,

Thanks for taking the time to review my question. Apologies if I came up as pushy, I grew frustrated because Apple gets its way, always.

I will just try and see if I can get an android phone to test my app there so I can present it as my final project.

Thanks again.
