Why can i only see the component section on my app

It seems you are using DnD (Drag and Drop) UI and searching for a component (row) that is only available in StP (Snap to Place) UI.

When you start a project, by default you will have Screen1 but will be empty until you drag new components in it.

Will I have to start a new project to get the StP UI?

Yes. Whatever you do in DnD cannot be converted to StP. You need to start a new project.
