Better Conversations About Extensions

As some of you have no doubt noticed already, we’ve created some new sub-categories within #thunkable-extensions.

The goal of this is to try and improve the conversations everyone is having around extensions and make them easier to develop, test, and use.

Following on from initial consultations with Extension Developers and Power Thunkers, here’s a quick summary of what these topics are all about and some examples of their intended use.

The #thunkable-extensions:releases category is a place for extension developers to broadcast news about new and updated extensions to the wider community. If your post contains a .aix file then this is the category for it otherwise you should probably be posting in Extensions-Discussion

In the #thunkable-extensions:beta category extension developers can announce upcoming new releases and community members can volunteer to test them out before they are released to a wider audience. This will allow developers release more stable code and give community members exclusive access to new extensions before they are released to the public.

In #thunkable-extensions:requests members of the community can let the extension developers know what they want to see in extensions. For example, this could include:

  • Requests for new features in an existing extension,
  • Requests or Polls for popular ideas for new extensions,
  • Offers to sponsor a new extension.

Last but not least, the #thunkable-extensions:discuss category is where most of the conversations will happen. If you have any questions about using a particular extension then post it here.

Hopefully this all makes sense, but if you have any questions please feel free to ask!
