Renaming file selected by file picker component

Hello, I’m currently on my last year at university. I’m creating an app for my final project. I managed to get it working and it functions how I would like it to for the most part.

However, the user is able to save a file from their device, which is then shown in a list. They can then click on the list to open said file. The text displayed for the file is pretty ugly, and just looks like a messy link. Is there are way for the user to rename the file before adding to the list? Or just renaming the file as something simple such as “file 1”? Or is there a way to keep the file name and link but change the text displayed on the list?

I’ve tried lots of work arounds but I haven’t had any success. I’m on a free plan so that may be the problem.

Thank you in advance,

Hattie

Hi Hattie, welcome to the Thunkable forums!

Can you post a screenshot of the blocks you’re using or a link to your project? It’s hard to know what to suggest without seeing how you have set things up.

Sorry if its a bit messy looking. I am using a web viewer as it shows images, pdf and text files. Overnight I have been thinking of a way to do it using a local table which I will try out and report back if it works.

Thanks for getting back to me

I have just cracked it! I used a local table and did it that way. I couldn’t get my head around it but I must have worked it out whilst asleep

Thanks again for your help
