# The sensor cannot be used in the live simulator

I used the iOS simulator to test but nothing happens at all.

What kind of sensor are you testing, simulators works on the computer and most of the sensors require real input from physical components in the hardware of the phone. If your phone does not have the **NFC** hardware it will not provide **NFC** data likewise if your phone does not have a heat sensor it will not provide heat data.
If the simulator you are using can make use of the computer hardware to read the data you are looking for in your **sensor test** and your computer has the necessary hardware then you will be able to read the data.
