# Setting a column to a variable set as an empty list

When I set the ListViewer to the column it works but for what I am trying to do (make a search bar that searches IssuesList) I need to have IssuesList set to the column but for some reason it does not let me set column to a variable previously set as an empty list.

When I call the function List\_Viewer comes up as blank because IssuesList is for some reason is not being set to the Airtable column.

This is strange… I reproduced your blocks and get the same result. However, If you move the set list\_viewer items blocks inside the airtable get column block it seems to work. Does it for you? @supermanbritt

That’s odd it does work when I moved it inside the airtable get column I’m going to see if I can get it to work with my search algorithm now.
