# Receiving data from BLE device (HM-10 bluetooth module)

Based on previous posts ([post1](https://community.thunkable.com/t/cant-receive-string-from-my-bluno-device/1949953/4), [post2](https://community.thunkable.com/t/ble-receive-gets-device-id-instead-of-input-data-when-connected-to-hm11-hm10-module/2288949/2)), HM10 doesn’t transmit strings, they broadcast strings (notify method).  
This means that you will need to use the BLE blocks [“Subscribe To Characteristics” and “Characteristics Change”](https://docs.thunkable.com/blocks/advanced-app-features/bluetooth-low-energy#subscribe-to-characteristics) to subscribe to peripheral device’s characteristics and receiving data.
