# Pull data from a spreadsheet based on text input

This may be a very simple question. I am VERY new to all of this.

I want to do the following:

1. Have the user input a 5-digit text input
2. The app searches a specific column in a Google Sheet for that 5-digit code
3. The app then displays the cell text from the cell in the adjacent column

I know this is probably very simple, but I can’t figure out how to do it.

What you’re describing is called a vlookup and there are topics that explain how to do that. You can search the forums or Google _vlookup Thunkable_ to get started.
