# Phone App Data not transferring or restoring to new phone

Hi
Last year I posted about data not coming across on a thunkable App to the new phone when using Smart Transfer.
Phone had to go for repair so this time I used restore backup to get everything on my old S20 plus Samsung. And again both thunkable Apps did not have data.
Using stored variables.
Is a stored variables stored within the thunkable App or stored on the phone?
Has anyone experienced this?
Can anyone tell me if I have to use cloud variables and introduce sign ins?
All other Apps I have, bring data across and do not require sign in.

I did some testing on this a while ago and discovered non of the local data options (local table/stored variables) transfer over with any of the phone transfer options.
Would be nice if one of the local storage options did.

Thanks thought is might be something I did wrong. Will look at cloud variables with user sign in as an option in my App
