# I need to change my map colors

Hi i need to change the default google map layout to a dark theme.

How can i change the map colors?

As far as I’m aware, there isn’t a current way of doing this. You can, however, change the border color and shadow with the map. (Click on the map, and there should be some settings options that pop up on the right hand of your screen. Scroll down until you find something that says “border width” or “border color.” Should be near the bottom).

You may also have more success with dark mode if you’re comfortable switching to using the [Places API](https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/places/web-service).
