# Get data from HC-05

Have you tried to use the [“Subscribe To Characteristics” block](https://docs.thunkable.com/blocks/advanced-app-features/bluetooth-low-energy#subscribe-to-characteristics)?

The “when characteristic change” block will be activated whenever the characteristic value changes on the peripheral (server) device. Data from the BLE device may be received in either String or Byte format.
