# Can't get row ID from list of values

Why does this combination of blocks (in list [list of values in… ID] get #1) always produce an error?

Why can’t this work? How else would I be able to get the row ID of the first row of my data source?

I know this workaround with a variable works. But we shouldn’t need it.

@tatiang Could you open your browser console and let us know if you see an error message there when you run this combination of blocks?

It seems limited to using that combination of blocks within a container in a DVL layout.

Thanks for sending this over, @tatiang. I’ve been able to reproduce it locally and have logged this for our dev team to take a look at and see what is problematic about that combination of blocks.

I’ll follow here and let you know what they say.
