# Can a thunkable app access a COM (serial) port?

I’ve seen an app on google play called “Serial USB Terminal”  
it works great.  
I have a device which plugs into the USB port and becomes a usb/serial device.  
I’d like to write an app to control the device via this serial port.

Hi @danielwm532gr welcome to Thunkable.

There is a sort of way if doing this but this requires JavaScript and/or modules.

Could you tell me more on what you want and what platforms you want to support?

I’m asking this because right now only chrome, edge and opera allow this, however it is not supported on iOS or android.  
So if you only need a web app you’ll be fine.
