# BlueTooth 4.0 sans BT Low Energy(a subset of 4.0) tutorial linking to Arduino

BlueTooth 4.0 sans BT Low Energy(a subset of 4.0) tutorial linking to Arduino? Note that BT 4.0 and earlier use an established serial protocol whereas BLE is different all together… BLE was designed for long term transmission life at very low energy drain with short data exchange. I’m interested in medium to heavy data exchange (data logging for instance with short periods) and have ample power. The protocols for Serial Communication for Bluetooth 4.0 on Visual [Basic.net](http://Basic.net) and C#.net are well established and I could set up two channels; one to a Windows 10 based app and an iOS smartphone or Android app.
